Runnin’ Lope Drafted by the Colorado Rockies

Former Lamar Community College Runnin' Lope Austin Moore was selected in the 26th round by the Colorado Rockies in the June 9th MLB draft.

Moore attended Lamar Community College in 2013-2014 and hails from Tucson, Arizona.  He had two outstanding years for the Lopes on the mound.  He won 18 games in two seasons, tying him for 3rd place of all time for the program.  Moore is 2nd on the all-time career innings pitched with 164 and finished 2nd in career strike outs with 200.  He is the all-time career ERA leader with a 1.92 ERA.  Moore was a two time 1st Team All-Region selection and, in the summer of 2014, he was selected to pitch for the NJCAA National team.

Upon graduation from LCC, Moore attended the University of Houston and, after a less than Moore-like performance, he transferred to West Texas A & M for his senior year.  In his senior year he helped the Buffalos to a Lone Star Conference Championship and a Regional birth.

"We are very excited to follow Austin Moore in his new career of professional baseball," remarked LCC Head Coach Scott Crampton.  "Austin had two great years on the mound for LCC and continued that success at West Texas A & M.  Austin was a pleasure to coach and we wish him the best."
