LCC Rodeo Team Looks Ahead to Spring

The LCC rodeo team has completed the fall semester and is looking forward to the spring season.

The women's team is competing well and currently seated at 4th place in the Central Rocky Mountain Region.  Leading the team is Melanie Roman who is currently in first place in barrel racing.  Two others are regionally ranked including Ashten Marchant who sits at 4th in goat tying and Jayla Reed who is 8th in barrel racing.

The men's team also has four members currently ranked individually in the region.  Kadyn Hicks leads the men's team with a 5th place standing in steer wrestling.  Blue Wilcox and Tom Straley are seated in 9th and 14th place respectively in bull riding.  Cade Alton is 14th in saddle bronc riding.

Head Coach Fred Sherwood is optimistic about the upcoming spring season.

"With the women's team sitting fourth, they should have a good chance; we expect them to move up as a team.  For the men's team, Kadyn is sitting in fifth but he's really not very far out of first place in the steer wrestling.  He's in real good shape and doing well," said Coach Sherwood.  "I'm looking forward to seeing how we do in the spring."

The Rodeo team returns to action on March 4th as they travel to the Gillette Wyoming College Rodeo in Torrington, Wyoming.
