Lamar Community College competed in Casper, Wyoming, this past weekend. Sophomore Melanie Roman led the women's team with a first place finish in barrel racing.
Jessica Applegarth also contributed to the women's team score with a tenth place finish in goat tying.
Roman's first place finish helped her maintain her first place standing in the Central Rocky Mountain Region with one remaining rodeo on the line. Alongside Roman, LCC has two others in the running for top spots in the region. Kadyn Hicks is currently tied for second place in steer wrestling and Ashten Marchant sits at fourth in the goat tying with only twenty points separating her from the third place contender.
LCC Rodeo has one remaining rodeo for the season at the University of Wyoming to be held on April 29 through May 1. Once the results are in from this rodeo, the top three contenders in each event will move on to the College National Finals.
