The Lamar Community College Softball team will be hosting a fall tournament October 7-8 at the Citizens Field Complex. Twelve teams will be competing in Lamar this weekend, including schools from Nebraska, Colorado, Oklahoma, Kansas and Wyoming.
Game times start at 9:45am on Saturday and will continue throughout the day with the last game starting at 6:45pm. On Sunday, games will begin at 9:45am with the final game beginning at 1:15pm.
The Runnin' Lopes Softball team will play on Saturday, October 7, starting at 9:45am against Luna Community College. The Lopes will play again at 1:15pm against Seward County Community College and at 6:30 against Oklahoma Panhandle University. Their final game will be played on Sunday, October 8, at 1:15 against Wyoming Club.
Admission is free to all tournament games. Concessions will be available.
LCC finished second in Region IX last spring.
Seven returning sophomores will lead the Lopes this year including five All-Region selections. 2017 All-Region players include Mercedes Salazar (OF, Pueblo, CO), Lauren Reed (P, Fruita, CO), Mackenzie Rowlett (UT, Fort Collins, CO), Larissa Royer (P, Berthoud, CO), and Caitlin McCarthy (C, Pueblo, CO).
The Runnin' Lopes roster is rounded out with 15 freshman hailing from Colorado, Utah, California, and Hawaii.
Regular season will begin in the spring semester for the softball team with games starting in February.
