Landon Steele begins his first season as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Lamar Community College after serving as the Head Coach for Northwest Kansas Technical College (NWKTC) for the last two years.
While at NWKTC, Coach Steele compiled an overall record of 29-31, leaving the school as the winningest coach in its short athletic history. In his first year at NWKTC, the Mavericks posted a record of 8-21, setting a school record for wins in a single season. With a full recruiting class in 2015-2016, the Mavericks were able to post a new school record of 21-9.
Prior to NWKTC, Steele was the Head Coach for the girls’ basketball program at Wallace County High School (WCHS) in Sharon Springs, Kansas. In his six years at WCHS he amassed an overall record of 88-42 including two state tournament appearances and a state championship in 2012. In addition to winning the state championship in 2012, he was also named the KBCA 1A Division II Coach of the Year and served as an assistant coach in the KBCA all-star game.
