Lopes Basketball Ends Semester at 9-6
The Lamar Community College Men’s Basketball team performed well in the fall semester, finishing with a record of 9-6 overall. The team has put up some impressive numbers and looks to continue this pattern in the spring.
The Lamar Community College Men's Basketball team performed well in the fall semester, finishing with a record of 9-6 overall. The team has put up some impressive numbers and looks to continue this pattern in the spring.
Leading the Lopes in shooting is Michael Skinner; he has the highest percentage of field goals with 67.7% placing him in 12th nationally, as well as 3-pointers at 66.7%. Jon Dunmyer has an impressive percentage from the line with 82.9% in free throws, followed closely by Shafeek Taylor with 81.1%.
The Lopes are doing very well as a team in rebounding. Chris Lewis leads the effort with 152 total rebounds so far this season, 100 of which were defensive. This puts him in 8th nationally for defensive rebounds and 10th for total boards. Isaiah Martin has also helped tremendously, putting up 114 rebounds.
Martin's height has also made him a force to be reckoned with in blocking. He has gotten a total of 41 blocks putting him 5th in the nation in that category.
In other ball control stats, Dunmyer leads the team in assists with 37 while Skinner leads in steals with 33.
The Lopes will return from the break on Saturday, January 8th, when both the men's and women's teams will take on Eastern Wyoming College at the Wellness Center. The women's game will begin at 5:00pm, followed by the men's game at 7:00. As always, admission to the game is free for anyone under the age of 18.
