Lopes Complete Season Sweep of North Platte with Impressive Road Victory
The Lamar Community College Men's Basketball team capped off their regular season series against North Platte Community College in dominant fashion, securing the season sweep with a strong all-around performance and winning on the road 78-59.
Sophomore standouts led the way for the Lopes, RJ Foreman posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds, Ahmed Cisse added 17 points and 7 rebounds, and Christian Payawal chipped in 15 points and 5 assists. The Lopes were red-hot from beyond the arc, connecting on 14 of 29 three-point attempts, and displayed excellent ball movement, finishing the night with 21 assists as a team.
Head Coach Jaxon Autry praised his team's execution and resilience, saying, "We had great ball movement today, it never stuck. When we play like that, we put a lot of pressure on the opposing defense. The second unit came in early and provided the energy and effort we need on the road to have a chance to win"
Autry also commended the team's grit and composure through adversity: "Really proud of the toughness our guys showed. It is always difficult to go on the road and win in Region 9. But when you add in injuries and the flu bug that had hit our team, it took a special effort and mental toughness to find a way to win and complete the season sweep of a really well-coached and talented North Platte team."
With the win, the Lopes continue to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the season, where they currently sit 3rd in Region 9.
