Runnin' Lopes Softball Eyes Region 9 Tournament
The Runnin' Lopes softball team is putting together an impressive turnaround season as they currently sit fifth in the Region 9 standings with a 10-10 conference record. With just 12 games remaining in region play, the Lopes are in strong position to secure a top-six seed and earn a berth in the Region 9 Tournament for the first time in six years.
The team's success marks a significant step forward under Head Coach Magdaleno, who is in her second season at the helm. After finishing with a 2-18 record in region play last year, the Lopes have made major strides this season.
"This is my first year coaching the players I recruited, and to see such a drastic turnaround from last season is incredibly exciting," said Magdaleno. "We're heading in the right direction as a program."
The Lopes will look to continue their push this weekend with a home matchup against Trinidad. The doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday at Citizens Field, with first pitch set for 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
Fans and supporters are encouraged to come out and cheer on the Lopes as they continue their pursuit of a postseason appearance.
